Winning pub launches X-Factor style open day for decorators

A Morton pub is hosting an X-Factor style open day to find a painter and decorator to carry out its £5,000 makeover. The Corner Pin, on Station Road, was awarded the business boosting makeover after winning the ‘Paint and a Pint’ competition set up by one of the UK’s leading paint brands, Glidden Trade.

The judges chose The Corner Pin to receive the top prize due to the dedication and community spirit of its owner, Steven Pyatt, and for his unique competition entry – which included a poem he’d written about the pub.

Landlord Steven is now welcoming prospective painters and decorators to visit his pub, so they can get a real feel for the place and pitch for the work.

The open day will take place on Tuesday 26 February between 1pm and 3pm. The landlord and a team from Glidden Trade will be on hand to meet local tradesmen interested in redecorating the boozer.

Steven said: “Winning the ‘Paint and a Pint’ competition and being awarded a £5,000 makeover means a lot to us, so rather than just rushing into doing the work, we wanted to give local tradesmen the chance to get involved.

“We’ve decided to hold an X-Factor style open day, where local painters and decorators can call in and have a chat, get a feel for The Corner Pin and meet the locals. We can then decide together who should carry out our makeover.

“We won’t be expecting any painters and decorators to sing for us, but by all means they can give it a go. Who knows, they might even get more work providing live music at night!”
