Police are reminding the public to be vigilant against counterfeit notes

Police in Alfreton are reminding the public and shop workers to be vigilant against counterfeit notes after a number of incidents in the area.

The incidents all took place on Thursday, February 7.

At around 8am a man attempted to use fake bank notes to pay for fuel at Swanwick Services, Derby Road.

At 2.30pm a woman used a counterfeit £20 note to pay for items in a shop on the High Street, South Normanton.

Just after 4pm a man attempted to use counterfeit notes in Tesco in Alfreton and a petrol station on Chesterfield Road, Shirland.

The public and shop workers are being urged to be on their guard for any fake notes and if they come across anyone trying to use these notes, or come into contact with any counterfeit notes, to contact police.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
