New Playground

Morton’s proposed new playground looks set to go ahead.

Funding has been awarded by Viridor, one of the countries largest recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies, meaning the new park on New Street could happen soon.

Viridor has agreed to fund 90% of the £77,000 project, subject to various conditions. The rest of the money needed will come from Morton Parish Council.

Chairman of the committee responsible for securing the funding, Mr Sean Cashin, said: “This is a conditional offer and we still have to get approval from Entrust before the project can go ahead. We have submitted the necessary paperwork and are now just waiting to see if they give the project the thumbs up.”

Parish Council Chairman, Mr Andrew Coates, said: “This is fantastic news for the village and a great achievement for all those who helped to put together the application for funding.”
