Burglaries in Stonebroom - Police reminder to keep your doors locked

Posted on January 22 2014

Police in north Derbyshire are reminding residents to be safety conscious after two sneak in burglaries in Stonebroom where the houses had been left insecure.

Thieves sneaked into two homes on School Close on Thursday, January 16 and stole property.

One home was entered at around 5.30pm through an open window and a tablet was stolen from a bedroom.

Another house on the same road was entered through an unlocked door between 3.30pm and 3.45pm and cash was stolen.

Community Safety Inspector Russ Dakin said: “A large percentage of burglaries are opportunistic and preventable if people are security conscious.

“Make sure your door is locked at all times, even if you are in the house and don’t leave any valuable items on display.

“By taking a few simple steps you can reduce the risk of falling victim to this type of crime.”

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
