Warning - Beware of Distraction Burglaries

A distraction burglary occurred on Hallfieldgate Lane, Shirland, today at around 1.55pm.

One male offender came to the door and stated he was fitting fencing at the bottom of the garden. He showed the resident where and during this time another offender has entered and searched within.

He is described as being white, around 5’5” tall, thin build, clean shaven, wearing a cap. He arrived in a white van with ladders on the top.

If you have any information or saw anything suspicious contact the Derbyshire Constabulary on 101 quoting incident number 451 of March 19.

Burglaries in Morton

Our crime rates in Morton are usually very low. However there have been two burglaries in Morton and one theft from a vehicle in the last few weeks. You can reduce the risks of a burglary / theft by following the advice given on the police website.

The Corner Pin, on Station Road, was awarded the business boosting makeover after winning the ‘Paint and a Pint’ competition set up by one of the UK’s leading paint brands, Glidden Trade.

The ITV1 Antiques programme, Secret Dealers, is currently in production for the fourth series of the show and are looking for people with a passion for collecting to apply to be on the programme. They are looking to film in Derbyshire.

Police advice: Doorstep seller? Ask to see their Pedlars Certificate

Police are offering advice on doorstep sellers and traders in a bid to help prevent crime and offer reassurance to residents. While it is not illegal to sell goods door to door, sellers must carry a police issued Pedlar’s Certificate, which shows the crest of the police force where it was issued, the name of the officer that approved it and the name and details of the seller.

Motorcyclist dies following collision on A61 near Shirland

A 27-year-old man has died after his motorcycle was in collision with a lorry on the A61 near Shirland. Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses to contact PC Paul Moorcroft of the collision investigation unit police 01773 572929.
