There is to be a joint meeting of Morton NHW and Stonebroom NHW on Monday 8 September 2014 at 7.30pm in the Community Rooms, Stonebroom. This is situated at the back of the school off Quarry Lane, Stonebroom. All are welcome to attend.

Revised mobile library services

Derbyshire County Council is currently consulting the public on its proposals for a revised mobile library services across the county. The consultation which started on 19th May remains open until 9th August.

Residents urged to use credit unions to reduce borrowing risk

Derbyshire County Council is urging residents struggling with debt to turn to credit unions for help instead of high risk borrowing after a leading payday loan company was ordered to pay compensation for ‘unfair and misleading’ debt collection practices.

Distraction burglary in Morton

A distraction burglary occurred on Stretton Road, Morton, on Friday 20th June around 5pm.

A woman called at the address and asked to fill up a bottle with water. Whilst inside she also asked to use the toilet. During this time a wallet was taken from within.

She is described as being white around 20 to 23-years-old, slightly taller than 5’ tall, slightly dark brown shoulder length hair, and medium build. Wearing a short sleeved white and blue patterned summer dress which ended just above the knee, and carrying a water bottle.
