A big thank you to everyone involved in organising the ghost walk, particularly to John Harrop and Eileen Wildsmith for their dramatic theatrical performance. It was great to see around 200 people coming together to hear the spooky story. Photos are now uploaded – see the link below.
The next key event for the village is the Centenary Commemoration for World War I – in Church at 10.30am or at the War Memorial at 10.45am on Sunday 9th November. Please come along to show your respects.

Poor Headless Homer had his head stolen during Saturday night and, although the head was returned on Sunday, the whole scarecrow including the chair he was sitting on was stolen during Sunday night. The news of the missing Homer was published in this weeks Derbyshire Times, which has led to the return of Homer and an apology by the two Mansfield lads who took him.
Sadly Mary Mary Quite Contrary and Cruela de Vil have also both been stolen.
The Parish Council has applied for a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to install a new outdoor fitness area at the Centre of England Park, New Street. We are currently at the final stage of securing the grant and the Parish Council would like the residents of Morton to participate in the choice of fitness equipment for the park. We have a budget of £10,000, which should be enough to purchase 4 pieces of equipment, so please let us have your 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices.
